Job Summary

The Assessment Officer reports directly to the Assistant Coordinator of Social Services. Works along with the Family Court Social Worker and is assisted by the Field Officer in the preparation of investigative reports to the Court.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conducts investigations through field visits as necessary
  • Prepares written and verbal reports for Court
  • Analyzes and assesses cases and make recommendations
  • Assists clients with all manner of psycho-social and financial issues
  • Prepares and maintains files
  • Facilitates access visits
  • Assists with outreach programmes
  • Participates in case conferences with members of team
  • Researches information relevant for Court reports
  • Makes necessary entries in the AS400 system
  • Assists with any additional duties as may be required for the efficient functioning of the Unit.
Knowledge
  • Ability to observe and maintain the highest level of confidentiality in an atmosphere, which requires a character of impeccable integrity
  • Knowledge of the relevant software applications used in the Supreme Court

  • Ability to perform a supportive role in ensuring appropriate service delivery in the Family Court System.
  • Ability to work within the Policies and Procedures established by the Family Court
Minimum Experience and Training
  • A degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology and Counselling
  • At least 4 years’ experience in probation work or other social work settings.
  • Must be computer literate.
